Since 2013
A celebration of Portugal’s culture, traditions and flavours in the UK
The Portuguese Festival Peterborough began in 2013, founded by Paulo Batista, Luís Pedro and João Simões with a simple but ambitious goal: to create a place where the Portuguese community could celebrate its culture, traditions and flavours, and share them with every community living in the UK.
Since then the festival has kept growing, becoming one of the great celebrations of Portuguese culture in Peterborough. Over the years, thousands of people, Portuguese and of many other nationalities, have come to discover, celebrate and enjoy a taste of Portugal.
Portugal through its food and culture
The festival is much more than an event: it’s a meeting point between cultures and a chance to show the richness and diversity of Portuguese traditions. At the festival you’ll find:
- Portuguese food
- Charcuterie
- Pastries and traditional sweets
- Portuguese wines
- Grilled food and traditional dishes
- Portuguese drinks and products
- Arts and crafts
- Live Portuguese music
- Entertainment for the whole family
A story that keeps growing
The festival has taken place every year since 2013, except during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it couldn’t go ahead. Its growth reflects the warmth and support of the Portuguese community and, more and more, of people from other backgrounds who make a point of joining the celebration.
Our aim is still the same: to keep our roots alive, promote Portuguese culture and bring communities together through music, food, tradition and good company.
